How Much Water Do You Drink?

I can speak for myself that at times I struggle to get my adequate water intake. I’m always trying my best to find ways to increase my intake. My insulated 2 litre stainless steel drink bottle for home and being out and about, filled with filtered water helps. My aim to have it either on my person or close by is a challenge.

For most people, finding ways around these “blocks” that inhibit you from forming good habits, such as drinking enough water is the challenge. These “blocks” can be that they simply do not like the taste as it is too bland. I would recommend popping a slice of lemon or lime to help give it a touch of flavour.

Another block could be how they drink it, how much and when. Just before bed in large amounts can mean being awake all night with trips to the bathroom. With meals can also be somewhat difficult for your digestive system, as water can reduce the activity of your gastric acid required to help assist the breakdown of your food.

So…the answer? This will be different for everyone, but the aim would be to take a few good sips every moment of the day. The amount on average has been said to be 2-2.5 litres, but can depend on body composition, environmental conditions, physical exertion or sweating, pregnancy or breastfeeding, age, body size/weight, dietary habits and gender.

To indicate if you are drinking enough, look at your pee, if it is pale or clear yellow = perfect. If it is a dark murky amber, you need to increase your intake.

Another block could be your access to filtered water and may have to purchase water in plastic bottles. In this instance, I would suggest investing in a good water filter. We have used @zazenalkalinewater and an under-mount reverse osmosis water filter. These are amazing and avoids the need to constantly purchase plastic bottles of water that exposes you to carcinogens, endocrine disruptors and neurotoxins that is in the plastic.

Drinking this essential compound H2O is a good foundational habit that can make the difference between optimal health and disease.

Prevention is better than cure, so drink up that clean pure water our body craves!
